Linktree and similar tools put a business on their domain. You can put the profile on the business's own domain. That's the reason to buy it from you.
Three addresses
- Your domain: youragency.com/joes-plumbing. Live as soon as you press Go live. Nothing to set up.
- A subdomain of theirs: card.joesplumbing.com. Works with every registrar and leaves their main website alone. One DNS record.
- A page on their website: joesplumbing.com/card. Only when you host their website with us, because their domain already points here. No DNS at all.
When the profile moves to its own address, the old one sends visitors there for good (a 301 redirect, so Google follows), and every NFC card follows too.
Set up a subdomain
- Open the profile in Bio profiles → Manage → Own domain.
- Pick card., links., go. or me., type their domain and press Connect.
- Add the one CNAME record shown, where their DNS is managed (registrar tips are on the screen).
- We check every 20 seconds. It usually goes live within 10 to 60 minutes; the secure certificate is automatic.
A bare domain (joesplumbing.com with no subdomain) only works if the registrar allows a CNAME or ALIAS on the root. Cloudflare does; GoDaddy doesn't. Use a subdomain when in doubt.
Put it on their website
- In Manage → Price, link the profile to the business's client website. Profiles linked to a website are free: 5 per website, then $10 a month per 10 more.
- In Manage → Own domain → On their website, choose the address (card is the default) and press Use this address.
- It goes live as soon as the website's own domain is live.
Give the owner access
In Manage → Business owner access, invite the business owner by email. They sign in at youragency.com/account with an email link, edit their profile, read messages and manage their cards. Send them Edit your profile.
