How to sell NFC business cards to local businesses

Who buys tap-to-share cards, how to price them, and how to bundle them with a bio profile so the card earns you a monthly fee, not just a one-off sale.

An NFC business card opens a web page when someone holds it near a phone. No app, no typing. For a local business that page is its bio profile: phone, directions, booking, reviews, socials and a Save contact button, all on one screen.

With 9x12 CRM you sell two things: the card (a one-off sale you price yourself) and the profile it opens (a monthly fee). The card is the hook; the profile is the recurring income.

Who buys them

  • Trades and home services (plumbers, HVAC, roofers, cleaners): the card goes on the fridge or the van, and the profile holds the booking link and reviews.
  • Salons, barbers, spas and gyms: staff cards plus a counter stand that opens the Google review page.
  • Restaurants and cafés: table stands for reviews and the menu.
  • Realtors, insurance and mortgage agents: one card per agent, each with its own profile.
  • Every advertiser already on your postcard: they know you, they pay you, and the card's profile can carry the same offer as their ad.

What to say

  • "One tap and the customer has your number saved, your reviews and your booking link."
  • "When your number or offer changes, we change the page. The cards you've handed out keep working."
  • "Lose a card? We switch it off and it stops working at once."
  • "Your profile lives on your own domain, like card.yourbusiness.com, not on someone else's website."

How to price it

Your cost is the blank cards, the printing and $1 a month per live profile (free for the first 5 profiles of a business whose website you host, then $10 a month per 10 more). A common way to sell it:

  • Starter: 1 profile + 5 cards, a one-off price for the cards plus a monthly fee for the profile.
  • Team: a profile per staff member + a card each, priced per person.
  • Reviews: a counter stand or table cards that open the business's review page, with a monthly fee for review invitations.

Sell the profile monthly and the cards at a margin. A business that pays monthly for its profile reorders cards from you, not from a print shop.

Set it up in the CRM

  1. Create the business's profile in Bio profiles and connect its own domain (see Bio profiles on the business's own domain).
  2. Add an NFC product in Add-on products so customers can order cards online (see NFC card orders and fulfilment).
  3. Source and print the cards (see Where to buy and print NFC cards).
